Riding ATVs in the Oregon Sand Dunes
We left Portland in the morning and headed out to the coast. We headed south on highway 101; a scenic highway that runs along the Oregon Coast and offers some amazing views of the Pacific Ocean. We had to stop every few miles to take pictures of the amazing view, the next one better than the last. My brother and dad both said throughout the drive; “Man, this would be fun on a motorcycle.”
"Hey Sister, Go Sister, Soul Sister"
"I can't do this!" | "This is crazy!" | "Don't look up" | "Take 10 Steps" | "Take 20 Steps" | "I gotta stop!" | "This fu*%ing sucks!" | "This is awesome!" | "How much longer?" | "OMG, there's more?!" | "Wow, we've gone a long way"
These were all the thoughts going through our heads this weekend as we climbed South Sister Mountain! As the third highest mountain in Oregon, South Sister stands at 10,358 feet in elevation. We started our journey at 5:00 AM from Devil's Lake trail head. Sitting at about 5,400 feet, we were looking at a 12 mile hike round-trip.
Delightfully Crabby
Knees weak and stomach churning, I jumped into the Umpqua River! The western portion of the Umpqua River hosts some fantastic locations for cliff jumping and rock climbing. That's exactly what I did with our friend Nils, while Jenna became the full-time camera woman. Pushing past the imaginary limitations we set for ourselves is an awesome feeling!
Crater Lake Loop
Micro Brews, Cigars, and Table Topics
This past weekend Jenna and I were lucky enough to tag along on an adventure in Central Oregon. We accompanied Lauren and Kyle to Black Butte, OR where Kyle's family cabin is located. We were also joined by Lauren's parents, Paul and Sandy who were visiting from Wisconsin Rapids, WI! On the drive to Black Butte we saw a beautiful strawberry farm that we had to stop and check out!
Amber's Oregon Adventures
This past weekend Jenna and I were visited by our good friend Amber from Duluth, MN. Before she even left for Portland we all agreed that we wanted to make the most out of her short time here. That being said, as soon as the plane touched down we were ready to begin exploring! Amber wanted to share her experiences of Living Reckless! Here is what she had to say...
Munra Point Hike
We woke up on Sunday, opened the window, saw the sunshine, and knew that we would spend the day outside, being reckless. Living in Oregon we are beyond spoiled with nature – the Columbia Gorge is an easy thirty minutes away and the coast is only an hour and half to the west. Then there is Mt. Hood – just an hour and a half east. We got in the car and...
